If your desired shoot location is more than one hour outside the Greater Victoria area, an additional $100 is applied per travel hour.
For Vancouver locations, it is an additional $550.
If elsewhere in Canada or is an international destination, we ask that our travel/accommodation fees be covered; please inquire for a custom travel quote.

What if my desired shoot location is outside of Victoria?

One of the biggest benefits of hiring me as your photographer is that I am an expert poser. I know exactly how to direct you and help you both to feel comfortable even if the poses don’t always feel normal. I specialize in capturing people who have never been professionally photographed before, so my shooting style includes 110% direction, so just kick back, run around, goof off and have fun with your other. You’ll be surprised at how fun it is and how comfortable you will actually feel. I've got you.

Often times, you will be able to choose your favourite headshot on the spot - if you don't like it we can hop back in to the shoot to make sure you love your image!

But we're not photogenic!

Just be yourself and wear what represents you and your business. Some tips:
/ Stay away from the same colour shirt as background (ex:white on white without a jacket over top)
/ Wear something comfortable and take photos of your outfit from behind to make sure you love it from all angles
/ Dress to match the location (those stilettos are for the city mouse)
/ You can bring more than one outfit if shooting for at least 1 hour.
/ Ladies, put a little oomph into your makeup (because it translates subdued on camera).

What should we wear?

For studio and indoor shoots, we can shoot at any time of day.
If your shoot is outside, time of day is also important - dawn or dusk is by far the best lighting (typically before 10:00am and after 6:00pm)
This is our chance to get golden hour portraits!
Be sure to check the weather when booking a date. It if calls for slight showers, I don’t worry about it too much as it often just ends up being overcast (which is my personal preferred lighting).
Here on Vancouver Island, we have learned to adapt to west-coast weather. Bring an umbrella just in case, it’s always good to have an indoor location as a backup. If the weather is just too torrential, I offer re-shoots at no charge.

When is the best time to do a shoot?

If you have a team of 8 or more people, it can get tricky to capture them all in the same photograph.
Furthermore, often times, your team landscape changes and it's expensive to re-shoot the entire team every time there is a new hire or replacement!
Our solution is the evolving portrait to make sure that your group portrait is always updated and everyone fits in and looks their best.
Here's how it works:
/Everyone is photographed either individually or in groups of 3 (depending on how many people total).
/For $10 per image taken, we use advanced photoshop techniques to carefully cut each person or group out of the background and then assemble onto a new background of your choice (typically white but sometimes transparent so that your graphics team can drop the image onto any background).
/We keep your evolving portrait on file so when you update your team, all you need to do is contact us to remove members or photograph and add new ones!

My personal favourite is shooting indoors with large window lighting.
Since I am mobile with a portable studio, many commercial offices such as lawyers, accountants and realtors enjoy shooting in their office so that they can go about their normal workday while I come to you and take over an office to make into a studio.
This is especially helpful when there are more than a few headshots to cover. 
In this option, as long as there is a blank wall (I often remove any hanging artwork temporarily) we can emulate a studio shoot.

Studio headshots are very popular for that classic professional look. If you would like to rent a studio for your shoot, it is $125 fee for up to 2 hours rental (since we rent from a third party, the fees may vary).
In the studio, we can get the basic white or dark background which is popular for graphic and web design since there is room for type space as well as the ability to knock out the background. Also, lighting is always beautiful no matter the time of day or weather! 
However, we can bring our lights to you and create a studio effect at your home or office!
